Like a Stoic

The transient pleasures of life,
How cool they seem to be had:
If only they lasted forever,
Forever would I be glad.
The transient mishaps of life,
How cruel they seem to be had:
If only they lasted for good,
Forever would I feel bad!
But the eternal good in life,
Is the Wisdom that with it cometh:
Temperance and Courage in difficulties,
And the service of Justice beyond loyalties!
The eternal bad in life is vice:
The vicious pursuit of things unjust, unkind;
It spits fire when ices suffice,
And suffocates the heart and poisons the mind.
