Dreams of a Syrian Child

My family is all scattered,
And my dreams all but shattered;
My health in decline,
My life on the redline.
My dream was like yours one day,
But I now only dream to stay;
To see the light of tomorrow,
Instead of scenes of sorrow.
I still dream you might say,
That that's a good thing, for one,
But I won't know for sure today, for
How long the chemicals won't have won!
You see, I'm a child born unlucky,
In the midst of a senseless war,
Who does not know a piece of peace,
And who doesn't recall parental kiss.
I'm that child who knows no peace,
And I'm that child who knew to dream,
I'm that child for whom family,
Is now all I wished I had, really.
I'm that child who knows no love,
And I'm that child who dreams of care,
Whose only act in that game of life's,
To feign the truth and choose to dare!

My Life and Yours

My life and yours, when they're the same,
We win in every war, and excel in every game;
My life and yours, right from the start,
They're meant together and never apart;
And when apart for a day or week,
Coming back together is all they seek.
My life and yours is ours as one,
By the generosity of time united,
Despite the frugality of space,
Forever never blighted;
My life and yours, when the same,
We excel and win in every game.

Stubbles and Granaries

The blueprint of life,
At inception as it does fall,
Life happens in between,
And at its end lies the goal.
Look at the stubbles on the ground,
And the granaries of days past;
Appreciate the transience of life,
Over the things that outlast.

The Interview

Smiles, unhearty and unkind,
Cold questions for the go;
Dry formalities, to remind,
'N fake pleasantries for the ego.
All this and no sliver of chance,
For you to land the job;
That's been fixed in advance,
Let not your heart throb!
My friend unseen, my friend unheard,
You were only there as a stat filler;
I hate to break it to you,
Not as a finalist in a thriller!

Viva ad mortem!

Time and space, for me,
Are only tools for my mind's eye,
My physical body might be gone,
In your nows and 'morrows,
But my essence permeates all space,
My being, all of time,
My characters, all human race,
And my thoughts, all rhyme.
Your heres and nows,
Yesters and  theres,
These are but your abstractions,
My always and everywheres,
Spacetime distractions!

Away but here

Miles and miles apart,
Only in body and limb,
But inches and inches close,
In mind, heart and dream.
So far like the stars,
Yet like the cosmos so close,
Part me in every world,
Sweet in every dose!
I know not what, without thee,
My life would have looked,
But now forever and ever more,
I have it with thee booked.
Forever grow, my universe,
Forever shine, my sweet star,
Let the forces of love tremble,
For love's sake, near or far.

Confession

'Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned'
Confessed the man into the cage,
Spilling his beans willingly
To a nonentity in hostage.
The fellow being deemed the 'father',
Took it upon himself and decreed,
That the desperado was of all his deed,
Henceforth absolved and cleared.

I wonder who, now the 'father',
In this vicious earthly game,
Having sinned for all his lies,
Will turn to, to clear his name!
But for all I think, the 'son' cries
And the 'father' after him cries,
Ad infinitum, in chains of chained lies.
