Ambush

Better the enemy in my darkest days,
Than the friend with fake smiles,
For from the enemy I expect less,
And from the friend, no guiles.
To me, don't pretend to smile,
If you don't mean it from the heart,
For better the enemy that frowns,
Than the friend smiles I shared,
Who bites me behind my back,
Or ambushes me to get me scared.
Better the enemy that hates my guts,
And calls the spade a spade,
Than the friend that beguiles,
With uncouth smiles that evade.

While the While Is Worthwhile

This little chance I got in life,
Rob me not, for goodness sake,
Let me be wake before I sleep,
Let me dream before I 'wake...
Let me dream away the dreams,
And live the life away...
Like there be not a morrow,
Nor ever was a yesterday!
I wouldn't know, I was not there,
I won't be there, will I know not,
All I know is I live, now, breath,
And now I die and rot.
Oh shame, how cruel the time,
I'm, after all, not worth a dime...
Once the time is gone...
And my life's done.

Tempus fugit...

All that earthly love,
All that pie in the sky,
But you see, my dear,
All of this will die...
All that ever is, is today
Only while it does last;
The future is just a mirage,
Only a shadow, the past.

Legacy

I am a mere passenger in time,
Wandering whilst I last:
Carrying my legacy to the future,
My footprints left in the past:
The visibility of the footprint
Is assessed in transition,
The gravity of the legacy,
Envisioned through action.
If by a thousand years from now,
None of these two will have lasted,
Frozen deep in the ashes of the present,
No one should know I existed:
For a wanderer lost in the theatre of time,
Having flunked my chanceful part,
I should not be entitled to the future
Nor should have claims to the past.
