Cheerio, ciao!

Goodbye, old times,
With memories of love and hate;
Time to welcome the new,
Territories of time, to anticipate.
Cheerio, ciao, old and new,
It's hightime we all flew!

Give before you take

This is common sense, crystal clear,
But I say it aloud, so all will hear:
The golden rule of all humanity,
The binding fabric of society,
A society rationally awake,
Is to learn to give before you take.
This needs no telling for all I know,
It's all over my somatic genes,
Neither scientific pokes needed,
Nor dogmatic ethics of religions.
So please, fellow citizen of humanity,
No reminding of this again;
Next time you treat others,
Consult the genes in your brain!

The Rupture

End of the world came yesterday,
Beginning of a new one today,
As always it does anyway...
So what was all the fuss and worry,
Like the world ended in a hurry?
Aware now, shallow minds,
That the world does always rupture;
As part, parcel and package ,
And a binding covenant of nature?
Nice endings we witnessed
Great doomsdays of pseudoscience, shall we say?
Confessions by those who thought
They would never see the light of another day.

Beyond skin-deep

Prettiness and charm are like straws on water,
For only upon the surface they creep,
But beauty, like the pearls, is the essence,
And those in search of it must look beyond skin-deep:
In the spines and guts and the blood in the brain,
Beyond the bones and under the skull,
Where logic and reason rein,
And feelings and emotions lull.
That is where golden beauty lies,
Or so I am accurately told,
And not the glitterings of a Fool's Gold.

Judge not, lest ye shall be judged

Open your mind for once,
Don't give me lectures on truth and lies,
Judge me not, tell me not from your rotten mind,
Your opinionated ideas of virtue and vice;
Use me as a learning material if you wish,
But let me learn of things by my own,
Focus on more important things of value,
And on rich ideas of renown;
Or keep the status quo of hypocrisy,
And be your very own poor clown.

Dreaming

I am an outsider to your world
And you too are out of my team;
But am I dreaming for real,
Or is this a mere dream in a dream?
Tell me I am confused,
As these worlds of ours so seem;
Is this a dream of my dreams,
Or a dream within a dream of my dream?

All by myself

Far from the nuances of life
Just by myself and me,
Every now and then
How much I like to be free!
How much I die to be alone!
How much I desire to reflect,
When all and sundry is gone!
How fascinating to find myself
Listening to none but me;
What a cool I not blabbering
But just flowing free...
What a wonderful thing to desire
What an experience to be!

From Addis with Change

'Tis a city that sleeps not,
But with eyes never open...
A city never awake-living deep in the past,
Clueless about what elsewhere does happen!
Motionless but never resting,
Planless but on the go,
Abode of destitute people,
That neither despair nor grow.
A people so madly in love with life,
A passionless people, of hope,
Fanatics like no where,
Ignorant beyond the scope!
Streets littered with people,
Aimlessly moving nonstop!
This is a city of beggars,
Calling out the angels and gods for mercy,
But hands stretched to the people,
Waiting for miracle coins, falling from the heavens to see?
This is the capital of shantytowns,
Of a people obsessed with self image,
A people that never admits defeat,
But a people that never really won
In a dozen scores years of age!
This is a place like no other,
Sewages overflowing,
Overpass bridges filled with trash,
But a people that prefers silence over trashbins,
A people that rushes to hush!
Admit it Addis, you need to know,
And you need to grow,
You need to have the courage,
Most importantly, to change!

Tears from the sky

Hi there, down on earth,
Kisses and hugs from the sky;
I miss you already, earthling
I see the stakes up here are high;
Even when so powerfully driven,
Even when I have wings to fly.
Down pour my tears,
Through the clouds that shield you from sight;
And across they ride the winds,
Guided by your smiles and warmth,
Through the darkness of the night.
When the winds whisper,
And when the clouds roar above,
Listen to the melodies of pain,
And feel the tears of skyhigh love.
Feel them, believe them,
And send them back through the rain;
Let me feel them, listen to them,
And use them to wash away my pain.
